View Full Version : Trial asks for Registration key

So about 6 or 8 months ago I downloaded the trial of NetRemote and looked at it for a day. But since it didn't handle iTunes, I couldn't use it.

Now I wanted to try it out again. I tried another program (which I even registered) that never worked -- could never communicate with my PC, so I want to make sure this is actually going to work before I pay any more useless money.

However, both on the PPC and on the PC, NetRemote asks me for a registration and the trial won't run (cancel or the website are my only options).

How do I fix this?

If it matters, the first time I was trying NR Pro and now I'm trying NR Music.

Thanks.

If its on a ppc you can hard reset the device.

If you don't want to do that, then you buy NR. If it doesn't work we will refund your money.

Thanks for the reply.

Huh, hard reset means basically re-format, yes? Hmmm.

Isn't there a Reg key I could delete that would bypass the need to hard reset? That seems awfully drastic to just uninstall a program completely. . .

What about on the PC end? It seems Media Bridge is working OK, but if I try to pull up NetRemote on the PC, I also get the Registration code thing.

You could back up the PPC first and restore it later. Alternatively, given that Promixis very gernourously offered to refund your money if it doesn't work you don't have to worry about hard resets. Not many companies would offer that service.

Don't go asking in a forum if there's a reg key that can unlock their security system for god's sake!

Well, I'm not sure who's post you were reading, but I never once asked for a "reg key that could unlock their security system". I was simply hoping to be able to use what they were advertising as Trial software. Nowhere does it tell you that if you ever once try some version of their software, you will never be able to try any version of it ever again. I don't believe it is disclosed that their uninstall process is incomplete.

We might disagree on what constitutes fair trial use, but I don't think that warrants, and I certainly don't appreciate, your accusing me of illegal activity when I've done nothing of the sort.

Well, I'm not sure who's post you were reading, but I never once asked for a "reg key that could unlock their security system". You asked if there was a registry key that could be deleted, which would effectively let you start the trial again. I'm not going to get involved in a play on words with you.

Point me in the direction of some software that allows a free trial period where you can actually undertake the trial over and over again. I don't know of any. Now show me a company that will show great flexibility as MikeC has shown above. I know very few besides Promixis.

A trial piece of software asking for its registration key.. well blow me.

All trial software performs in this way, otherwise you could just keep reinstalling over and over. Clean your system. Or take the sellers offer of a refund, which is very generous.
