Yes this problem has been reported several times on this forum. As Mark said, the 'stutters' occur because of the polling nature of the hardware / software.

How does this receiver attach to the PC? Via serial port or is this function included on another card or ???
I know I should already know this but please indulge me. Thanks.
EDIT: It appears this attaches via the serial port but uses the DCD line to transmit data. The IGOR plugin must, therefore, poll the serial port to detect the changes of the DCD line. Get an IRMAN.

I'm using Girder with the Igor plug. I notice that when pressing ANY key on my universal remote that it will interrupt my currently playing dvd/mp3 for a second or two. This is really annoying and pretty much makes this IR receiver useless for me (So much for a great deal). I'm assuming it is high CPU usage, however on a 1 GHZ pIII I find this ridiculous. Is there any way around this problem, or should I just give up and buy an IRMAN (Which hopefully does not suffer from this problem)?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Mark,
Thanks for the info, I figured it was something like that. My question is, how are all you other people with the PB using it considering this problem? Personally I find it maddening...
