Well how did you get it to work with PCremote control ? I've given the homepage a quick look and it seems to be an IrDA adapter, so read the helpfile on how to get the IrDA adapter to work. ( in the hardware plugins section )

If it is a standard serial device, I may have a solution for you very soon. I'm awaiting a bit more feedback from gongman before releasing it into the wild but a new plugin is on interation BETA 3.

See http://www.stack.nl/~stilgar/windoze/forum/viewtopic.php?TopicID=76 for a bit more information.

I haven't used this device with the serial plugin. The plugin can now be found here (http://www.girder.nl/download.php), under serial port (http://www.girder.nl/download.php?Link=34).

I have to ask a bunch of questions. Sorry.

In the serial plugin:

Do you have the baud rate, parity, stop bits, word size and handshaking set right?

What are the receive parameters set to? I would suggest: message type=fixed, message length=50, receive timeout=on(30) and translate=on. This should generate Girder events for any data received.

As I said previously, I haven't used this device. Sorry.

Alright! It is unfortunate that you are still classified as a "newbie" since you have offically passed the "Girder trial by fire".

Anyone had success getting this reciever to work with girder. Does anyone have any advice on getting it up and running?

I have it setup as a standard serial device under pc remote
You can set it up as an Irda device, i did this but was getting no response from girder

Yes i did read this discussion but thought it may be getting a bit beyond what i would be needing. If it is also going to be supporting a basic serial device i would be interested in testing for you if you wish

I'm also having all sorts of problems finding anything that will work with MA-600 due to the fact that all signals recieved from it seem to be the same, these messages and ones like them posted in forums for other software seem to be dated at about march this year, has any progress been made with getting the MA-600 to work, or have all efforts been abandoned because of the difficulty of this interface???

I've tried the forum mentioned by Mark F, but I just get redirected to the main girder site, any suggestions???

I've tried it with the serial plugin it still doesn't seem to want to work, i got it to work with 2 buttons on my universal remote control and even then the command was repeated so that when i changed to next or previous track in winamp it would change all the way through the playlist

I decided to try all the remotes I had in my house and i discovered that the remote from my dad's sony cd player (RM-D302) works really well. I used the learn function on my universal remote to learn the buttons that I wanted. The only problem now is that the software it too responsive and when i press the next track button it is recived as many keypresses, is there a way of combating this??

don't worry i've sorted it now all I had to do was set the antirepeat wait time

I'm just glad I got it working with the MA-600, which can be a real pain, Technically I am a newbie to this game, I only got the reciver on saturday morning, now i've gotta see if I can get other remotes to work with this device and i've gotta try to spead the word about it being a remote specific device.

Thanks for all your help, Girder is a great peice of software

I'm using Girder 3.2 with General Serial plugin.
I have set it to the followings already

parity: none
word size: 8
stop bits: 1
handshaking: none
baudrate: 9600

recieve message definition
fixed length: 10
enable recieve timeout : yes,1 (For this, 1 means 100 milliseconds?)
enable modem events: no
add device prefix: no
translate bin>hex: yes

It still getting weird commands, and they are different everytime.

The only "help" I can provide is the receive timeout is in milliseconds, not 100s of milliseconds. Sorry.

But the general serial plugin won't let me to do 1 millisecond, so what can I do?
