I am trying to figure out the best way to talk to Girder from a VB.NET application that I am writing for a Pocket PC 2003 device. I realize that I can do amazing things with the NetRemote software, but I still want to create my own VB app.
I have had moderate success creating a VB function that opens a TCP connection to the Girder Internet Event Server running on a Windows XP machine on my network. My biggest problem is that the VB TCP connection is slow and periodically pauses, causing my interface to become unresponsive for 1 - 2 seconds. I imagine there is a way to get the VB settings just right, but programming network communications is not my specialty. At first I thought that this might be a function of the PPC and my wireless connection but Girder responds almost instaneously whenever I send a command from NetRemote on the same device..
I was hoping that there might be a way to get the functionality of IEVENTC.EXE on the Pocket PC platform. I have had good luck sending Girder commands from a regular Windows VB application this way. Is there a way to use NetRemote in the background or maybe one of its support files to have the same speedy communications with Girder from my VB app?
Thanks in advance for any advice on this issue.
