tcpclient2.exe replaced console.exe.

To use this program you have to open a dos-box.
( well to actually see how to use it )

well, have you correctly set up the tcpip server?

You have to allow the remote computer access.

Even if that 'remote' computer is the local computer. So enter both the localhost address ( 127.0.0.1) and the real IP address into the list to be sure.

1. Make sure that the server has version at least 2.0
2. Make sure that Quiet mode and 1.x compatibilty are OFF
3. Make sure that the IP address of the computer that you are going to run tcpclient2.exe from is in the list. (also try 127.0.0.1 for localhost)
4. Make sure that the firewall is not blocking this IP traffic. (DISABLE firewall to be sure)
5. ENABLE the plugin ( Press F9, the green light will come on )
6. Add a command and 'learn' the eventstring to the command -> YOU HAVE TO select TCP/IP server from the drop down box next to learn.
7. Go to a dos box on the client computer
8. Type : tcpclient2 [hostaddress] [port] [password] [eventstring]
9. On the host computer Girders light will have blinked yellow, and the command will have been executed.

I downloaded Girder and installed and also tried to download the tcp/ip plugin, but there is not console.exe to control girder from another computer. There is a tcpclient2.exe, but when I run the command from the client computer, it does nothing. It doesn't do anything on the host computer either. Where can I get console.exe, or am I just using tcpclient2.exe wrong? Please let me know how to use tcpclient2.exe if I'm not supposed to run it like console.exe. Thanks.

Can you run it from a command line? If so, what syntax is used? Is it

tcpclient2.exe 127.0.0.1 1024 password trigger

I have tried this command, but it does not work and the tcpclient2.exe dos box stays open. Thanks.

Yes, I have enabled it, set a password, port number, etc. I have also set up PowerDVD to tcp/ip server and gave it an event trigger. Did I miss something?

I did put the laptop's IP I'm trying to run it from in the allow list, but it does the same thing as when I run it on the host computer. I run the command and nothing happens, except the DOS window stays open with the cursor blinking. I will try to put the network ip of the host computer in the allow list also to see if that works. Thanks.

Ok, I got it to work, but when I send a command to open say PowerDVD from a remote computer, the host computer gets the command but just sits there. PowerDVD starts right up when I close Girder however. Very strange. I've also noticed that other programs won't open when girder is running, but pop up as soon as I close Girder. What's up with this?
