PLEASE help me with this...

i dl'ed girder a long time ago.. couldnt get it to work properly with my AST remote..
and now.. i wanna try once and for all to get this damn thing to do stuff.

ok.. so i dl'ed the girder program and tried the AST hardware plugin.. i get a "cannot connect to comport" whether i put it in com1 or com 2..
so then i tried the "generic serial support" plugin.. and that allows me to enable my receiver..
HOWEVER..
when i push a button.. the receiver doesnt receive it. the light turns green on the girder program after i enable it, so i know that's working... however when i push a button on my remote.. it seems not to receive the signal, as the light just continues to stay green and does NOT blink.
could somebody help me figure out wut the hell is goig on and wut i need to do.. thanks.

ok.. i finally got it to recognize my commands .. and the light flashes yellow when i click a button on the remote.
now.. my problem is ..
when i program one button to do something.. it seems like every button on my remote will then send the same command.
and also.. when i push a button once, it seems like the command is being sent 3 or so times. so for example.. if i programed something to execute and close with the same button.. then when i push the remote button once.. it will send the command like 3 times, and that results in the program being opened then closed again
help me please.
