Does the IRman also do this ?

Mind though, some remotes, often Philips, will send 2 different codes per button.

I have both IRMan and the Packard Bell IR serial port recievers. With either of these I am unable to get reliable IR code learning from Girder. Since so many people have had sucess with this tool I am assuming I am getting something wrong.

The problem is this : with some remotes, or some buttons every press of the button yields a different code string from Girdirs IR capture.

One solution has been to use the WinLIRC server, but that's a pain to setup. I'd porefer an integrated solution so I can prototype on one machine then jsut copy the Girder config to my HTPC and have it work.

Thanks,
Ian

I tried the IRMan irServer, it does the exact same thing. I learn the code in the irServer app, it seems to stick. Then in girder every press of the button yields one of three results : the right key, a different key or nothing.

My normal universal remote has no problems learning these codes.

Well it's been months and I still have no reliable IR command stuff working with girder.

Girder the app rocks. The power and potential is mind numbing for an HTPC and theater automation perspective. But so far no luck. :-(

Have you looked at the environment where you have the IR receiver? Plasma displays and sunlight, for example, can really mess up IR signals.

You are right, many people are using the IRMan and PB solutions with Girder. I don't have a good answer for you. Sorry. :(
