Hi all,

I have a mce05 htpc running fine using the usb mce IR receiver and a mx700 remote control that I've taught with the mce remote's commands (to allow me to control tv\amp\pj from the same remote etc). What I need to do now is add some extra IR functionality to my htpc but I'm deviled if I can work out how to use girder for this task. I need to keep the standard MCE functionality running fine but I also need to add an IR command to send a system hotkey sequence that will trip powerstrip's primary display toggle causing the image to flip between the pj output and the tv output ... so all I want to do is use another IR code in the mx700 (anything, i'll choose something that won't interfere with the equipment I already have), have girder learn this command, and send the hotkey sequence whenever it sees it.

Can someone help me out please, I'm not getting very far with it, not even anything from the usb receiver to girder (which plugin is best?). I don't want to use the IR receiver for any external control (not STBs etc), its just an IR input to the PC.

Very grateful for any help\advice\pointers.

Duncan.

Duncan,

First lets try getting Girder to make the display change ...

Is it Powerstrip you are using to do this?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your help. Yes - powerstrip, I've enabled the hotkey manager and setup a hotkey sequence of ctrl-alt-z to toggle the displays, works fine on the keyboard just need to get the remote to give the same functionality.

Cheers
Duncan

I've been working on the same project for a couple of months now, and have found what appears to be a roadblock: if you use the MCE plugin to receive other IR commands, you must be using a tuner card and NOT an STB - the MCE plugin will take control of the IR receiver/blaster, and you will get error messages when it tries to change channels on your STB.

If you are using a tuner card, it will work just fine - get the MCEIR plugin from the downloads page.
