Pronto and Girder

I think the pronto has an enormous database of built in IR commands, have a look at the manual!

How do you assign an IR code to a command when your remote doesn't have any spare IR codes? Do I need to teach IR commands from a different remote to the Pronto and use those or can Girder create random IR data sets I can input via ProntoEdit?

Pardon me if this is a lame question but I am new to this.
