I can't see that this has been tested/mentioned here before, so I just wanted to say that installing the USB-UIRT and testing both learning, receiving and sending of IR codes worked without a hitch. btw it's annoying that I can't search this forum!

Weird. I didn't see the 4.0 forum in the dropdown the last time I was here, and now it's suddenly there. Must be the norwegian traditional breakfast of champions - poisonous mushroom!
Edit: And I now saw that it has been mentioned before. Never mind, I'll just let this thread stay here as a monument to my stupidty!

I am having trouble getting it to work after reinstalling my operating system. The step I have taken are:
1 - downloaded and installed the drivers with the .inf file from the USBUIRT home site.
2 - downloaded the zip file with the plugin and xml files for the UBSUIRT and placed the files in the appropriate directories.
3 - restarted
4 - enabled plugin in Girder.
It's telling me that the plugin is not loading. Can someone give me some suggestions? I'm using Windows XP media centre edition. Thanks.

Did you go from regular XP to MCE? In that case that may be the problem.

Yes. I did.
I can't switch now. Do you have any suggestions on how to get around this?

Did you contact John about this?

I can't say for sure, but I don't think MCE works correctly with many types of remotes. It's pure sxxt in my opinion. Sorry.

No, I haven't. I'll try that tonight. Good idea.

Can you be more specific on the error message, etc.? Also, is the USB-UIRT plugged in and otherwise operational (you may want to request the lrnHelper test app from support@usbuirt.com to verify there isn't some other problem).

Damn. Ok. I messed up. It's been a while since a reinstall. What I needed to do was go through the add hardware wizard in the control panel instead of right clicking on the .INF file in explorer and choosing "install" from the context menu. It works fine now. Sorry about that.
