Hello, I wanted to create my own PVR using the Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150, the 45 button remote, and using Girder to automate it.

Forgive my ignorance, but I am having a very tough time Simply calling a single program with the IR remote.

My goal is to have an on-screen display that gives me choices on which program to call and to use the program (mostly) with the remote.

Is there someone who can get me started, please?

I read through the included pdf and I am still confused.

Thank you.

EDIT:For a frame of reference, I am trying to accomplish a similar goal as the author of this article. http://www.makezine.com/extras/4.html

I saw that article too. Interesting...

I haven't tried it but did you download the author's gml file (that's basically a set of girder scripts)? He has a link in his article that takes you here: http://www.makezine.com/images/extras/4/toplevel.gml

That's the first step I would try.

I've been studying it, but I can't make heads or tails of it. I'm not quite sure how to start the main menu in the first place.

EDIT: Can anyone tell me how to open up the OSD menu with the author's GML file using the remote?

I have used Meedio since it was released. It was originaly a freeware program developed by the myhtpc community. Coupled with Girder, there is nothing you cant do.

Ok, I found the issue I was having - the 45 button Hauppauge remote didn't work with Girder. Now I know why I was having so many problems!!

Now I'm having another issue (minor this time). How do I set focus to the foreground app so that I can control it with my new Firefly remote? I am able to open the OSD menu and choose the application I want (jnes - NES emulator), but after that, I can't control it even though I (think) I've mapped the keys. :o
