I am very new to all of this, but eager to learn. My first, not overly ambitious goal is to have basic IR reciever functionality for various multimedia progs such as zoom player, Winamp, WinDVD, etc. The second desire is to have IR transmission to change the channels on my digital cable box for scheduled vid capture.
For these applications, which of these aforementioned IR devices, the actisys or the UIRT would be better. Also entering the equation is the fact that although I am pretty good with a sodering iron, I do not know how to make a PCB.
