Igor Plug

I'd like to add a problem to this plugin. More generally to all polling plugins. They tend to bog down a system, causing brief cuts in music etc. We get this question every now and then, might be good to put this as a side note.

Please post here ONLY any hardware you have working with girder. To include:
-Girder Version.
-Plugin used.
-Hardware version (if applicable).
-Settings for that plugin.
-Any problems.

Also, if you feel it would be beneficial, please post descriptions of what various settings do/mean for the individual plugins.

I want to try and write a FAQ for the various different types of hardware etc. so people can just look up the settings for their hardware rather than having to post in the forums.

Igor's Plugin & Lirc compatible receiver
Everything up to v3.10b12c so far.
Igor's SFH-56 Plugin v0.99
Anything Lirc compatible (http://www.lirc.org/receivers.html) or Igor's own hardware (http://www.cesko.host.sk/girderplugin.htm)
Com Port: select COM port here, Input signal: signal line that reveiver uses (DCD for Lirc compatible, DSR for Igor's receiver)
I haven't had any problems with it at all. Igor's website (linked above) has all the info needed to get this working.

Winlirc2Girder & Lirc compatible receiver
Everything up to v3.10b12c so far.
Winlirc2Girder and WinLirc (http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/)
Anything Lirc compatible (http://www.lirc.org/receivers.html)
I used all the default settings. More info is available at http://www.logolive.de/winlirc2girder/ and WinLirc's homepage.
I haven't had any problems with it at all, except for having to run Girder and Winlirc (That is why I switched to Igor's Plugin).

I have just downloaded a new version of Igor's plugin (v0.99) and it has reduced cpu load significantly (from around 10% to around 5%, I think). I have an AMD Athlon XP 1600 (1.4GHz) and it only uses about 5% (which is still a lot more than the UIRT). This might still be too much on some slower systems though. I would really like to build a UIRT, but since I already have a Lirc receiver that works ok for my purposes I decided to leave that until I need something that works better. I fully recommend the UIRT over the Lirc device for anyone looking to build a new receiver.

Girder 3.1 beta12b
Igor Plug v0.99
PB Fast Media

I have also noticed a very good improvement in low CPU usage in upgrading to v0.99 of the Igor plug. Went from a 15-20% increase to a measly 5% or less on my AMD Thunderbird 1GHz. I haven't noticed a single problem with stability or anything, and would recommend upgrading to the new Igor plug for anyone who is still using the old one and experincing some problems.
