I've been trying to get wake on lan set up and I'm having a hard time! I did some searching here, but could not find a definitive answer.

First, it was hard enough to get it to work with different PC utilities. After some research, I found that I had to forward ports on my router (D-link DI-524). Most guides I found (like this (http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/9389)), were suggesting I should forward to a broadcast IP, like xxx.xxx.x.255, so all the computers on my subnet would receive the magic packet. I tried this, but my router would not accept a xxx.xxx.x.255 IP address.

So, I'm not sure why, I decided to try to forward the port to my router's IP address (192.168.100.1), and it worked! I can wake up both my computers using this (http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-gui.aspx). On this program, I used the mac address, for the internet address, I used my router's IP address and used the 255.255.255.0 subnet mask. I also used port 7, which is the port I opened on my router's settings.

Now, what should I use on netremote's wol plugin? It has only two options: Broadcast IP and Port! I tried different things, but couldn't get it to work! Any ideas?

Hi

I use 3Com WLAN router with Ipaq and WOL works fine, I just configured a button in NR with WOL IR code, put the subnet broadcast address in the plugin.
I have no port forwarding configured on the router and all works fine,

I have following configuration in my router in addition to the standard setup;

- RIP V2
- MAC address filtering with PPC MAC configured to allow access
- DHCP with fixed IP for PPC and Music Server

sometimes I do find WOL from NR locks up and I have to restart the NR on my PPC to get everything back to normal.
