I know something better, Use the source luke.

You have the UIR sourcecode, change the start_device return value to return TRUE no matter if the hardware worked.

Would it be possible for girder to enable hardware devices even if one fails to initialize?
My 'JukeBox' PC only gets the IRMan connected when I take it somewhere - normally the IRMan is connected to another machine. This means that Girder fails to initialize hardware devices whenever it is not connected and it would be much easier for me if it still carried on initializing the other devices, which I still use normally.
Don't worry if it's too much hassle!
Thankyou

May be it's a good idea Girder to continue initializing hardware devices even if one fails. In my case I use 2 UIR (one in my bedroom and one in the sitting room) and sometime I do disconnect the one in the sitting room because I need the COM Port for other thing but then the one in the bedroom is not working too.

Also I have problem enabling the devices after the program have started with one of them failing. The problem shows only when COM2 (where the Generic Serial Plugin is configured) is taken when Girder starts. Then after I free the port and try to enable input devices in Girder (F9 or the menu item) noting happens. It's may be plugin's fault but I can't tell.

Ron, we (or atleast I) apologize for being such demanding users , but we want Girder to be the PERFECT program and you are the one that can do this.
we can only test and request new features
