View Full Version : WinDVD not recognized as focused 1st time after boot.

I have Girder set up to recognize if WinDVD is focused and enable/disable the WinDVD group based on this. Normally, this works fine, but I find that after each new bootup, if I start WinDVD first and THEN put in a DVD, the remote does not work due to the fact that Girder does not seem to recognize WinDVD as focused (even though the taskbar indicates that it IS focused.) If I simply click on the WinDVD window, the remote starts to work again, and if I close everything, open WinDVD again and insert a DVD, it works -- it's only after bootup that the problem occurs, and once it's "fixed" it does not reoccur until I once again boot.

It's also interesting to note that if I insert the disc and THEN start WinDVD, this doesn't happen at all -- not even after booting. It's only when I first start WinDVD, and then insert the disc.

I checked Girder, and confirmed that when the problem is happening, it's because Girder is not enabling the WinDVD group -- i.e. Girder does not seem to recognize that WinDVD is focused.

What settings might be effecting this? Is there something on the "Target" page that may fix this issue?

Thanks,

Larry

It sounds like the disc insert is doing something with the way girder see what is in focus. in the downloads are, have a look at the focus example. this is the best (IMHO) to enable/disable groups.

Thats exactly how I created the gml in the first place -- I simply changed the targets, etc. to work with my specific programs and remote. As I mentioned, it DOES work -- it's just the first time after a boot that it is problematic, and only if I start WinDVD and THEN insert the disc.

UPDATE: I found that the Autoplay setting effects this. The problem occurs when I have Autoplay set to always do nothing. If I instead set it to always open with WinDVD, the problem does not occur. However, when it's set this way, I get some odd behavior with WinDVD where when a disc is inserted after WinDVD is open, the DVD starts, then the screen goes black for a few seconds, then it comes back.
