Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to disable (or limit) the download of a JRMC playlist to the NetRemote client on my iPAQ?
I understand that large playlists are slower to download but I generaly prefer to use JRMC in the "double-click=replace playing now (all)" mode. This creates a 20000+ list, the transfer of which halts other usage of NetRemote.
If I could disable transfer of this list (apart from currently playing song) or better still limit it to a defined number of upcoming playlisted tracks, perhaps I would still be able to control JRMC without the large download delaying things.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Adding so many tracks to Playing Now in JRMC will cause a slow down and it's not recomnmended. JRMC view schemes and smartlists are such powerful tools that you should be able to use it much smarter than that. For example, if you are adding random tracks you can create some view schemes that use a random sort and have a limit of n tracks (I use 100 as my limit in random view schemes).
MediaBridge does include functionality to limit the impact on NR by limiting the number of tracks displayed in Playing Now.

Is there a way of changing this number?

Sure. Just open MB and click the preferences icon on the left hand side.

That sounds ideal.
Problem is I cant find the preferences. I'm using NetRemote Music 1.1.0.32 with Media Bridge 2.0.28. I see only three icons on the left. 1) Headphones: left-click does nothing, right-click brings up a context menu with "play, pause, next, previous and exit", 2) A Question Mark: left-click goes to promixis site, right-click gives the same context menu as the headphones, but also has an entry at the top "show media bridge", finally 3) An arrow pointing to a door: left-click exits and right-click brings up the same context menu as the question mark.
I've had a look through the NR Music help file and found mention of a MB variable MB.PlaylistLength. The file pointed to the NetRemote Pro user guide for instructions on these variables, but I've looked through that and am still unsure how to use these.
Thanks for all the help!

The latest version of MB is 2.0.34. Download and install the latest NR suite.

Have downloaded the new version and can limit the list length sent to NR. There are still 30+ sec delays if JRMC has a large playing now list despite enabling this limit. Does MB still obtain the full playing now list and only send the selected number of tracks?
Thanks for the advice.

No it's MC that's being slow. Take my advice and be smarter with your use of MC. There is no other program that gives you such power with smartlists so if you are sending so many tracks to PN you are just being lazy IMHO. Set up some proper smartlists for use with NR. If you need help with these just ask and give some examples of what smartlists you are currently using.
