The OS is still beta (as is Designer), so it's clearly unfair to expect everyone to play happily together at this point... I offer this only as a preliminary heads-up: Designer freezes for me under Windows Vista when I open any drop-down menu (File, Edit, Tools, or Help).

The Vista beta is available to MSDN subscribers (so I'm guessing some of you may have access to it already). NR seems to run fine at first blush, and Designer loads and is usable until accessing drop-downs. Once you access a drop-down, the menu displays, but Designer locks up at that point, and the window fails to refresh.

I had to do a fresh install of NR and Designer after installing Vista, so I'm just using the default CCF.

Cheers,
Tim

That's because MS has decided that any functionality that isn't in their OS or Office package isn't necessary for anybody, just like 640 kB of memory will be enough for everybody at all times (quote Bill Gates)!

Sorry, we now resume regular programming...

Bill has an uber-automated house up on Lake Washington, but supposedly he hired an army of underlings to do custom development (so no NetRemote or Girder is likely involved). If he were still a REAL developer, he'd be slogging through his own implementation like the rest of us!

Back to the Vista compatibility problem: I'm becoming an expert at using the Designer keyboard shortcuts (to avoid the drop-down menu freeze). The right-click menus also seem to cause the same freeze.

Cheers,
Tim

Interesting. We license the components to make the menus look so nice, so we'll have to follow-up with the developer of those components.

Thanks Tim.

(PS: Making some good head-way with the v210. NR is running nicely (including better web browser support)).

No rush on a Vista fix (I think I'm the only one on the forum using it right now, and I've got other machines).

Great news on the tablet; likewise, no rush getting it back. I've got a PDA version of my CCF, so I'm fully up and running without it.

Cheers,
Tim
