View Full Version : How to enable PPC D-pad and hardware keys? (solved)

Hi All, another fundamental question: every PPC has a 5-way D-pad and either 2 or 4 or 5 hardware buttons. Can these be mapped to IR commands and/or buttons in each unique CCF panel?

The feature I most want to enable is use of the D-pad for volume control and channel selection. Other features could be mapping the four hardware buttons to four particular panels within my CCF, etc.

manual? you mean i need to read something to use your software? ;-)

but seriously, i just paged through the document and searched on keywords like "hard", "button", "key", etc but couldn't see anything relevant. has anyone tried this in the field?

File|Properties|Hotkeys

Then configure the keys as you'd like.

In NR Designer you will see that each page group has a child called HardKeys which you can use in the same way as any on screen button.

Thanks Rob, I've got it working now! :-D I didn't realise before that I had to do both things to get it working: i.e. map the physical keys in NR client on the PDA as well as the functions inside the CCF.

And BTW2 a small Feature Request to Promixis - how about making the naming consistent so that it's more clear to new users that the "Hotkeys" in NR map to the "Hardkeys" in Tonto and Designer...?

Hi Peter -
We'll think about it. We're not meaning to be wildly consistent. On a Pocket PC, the buttons are referred to as "hotkeys" whereas on a Pronto (and thus Tonto, ProntoEdit, etc.) the buttons are "hardkeys".

Now that we're intended NRD to be the only editor, we may be able to free ourselves from the "hardkey" nomenclature.
