View Full Version : Dual boot sys - Works great in XP, but not in 98

First off let me say thanks To RonB for an excellent program.

I'm using a Silitek SM-1000 remote/receiver and dual booting between XP + 98.

Under XP girder works great, under 98 it seems to receive little more than garbage from the SM-1000. For example: Teaching girder keypresses results in a different code for the same key each time you press it or the same code for several different keys.

The fact that it works so well under XP leads me to believe the problem lies with Win98 and not with the hardware or Girder itself. My com port is set to 1200 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, even parity as recommended at http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~sgb97r/remote/silitek.html - I've tried several port and silitek plugin settings combinations with no success.

The software supplied with the SM-1000 works fine under 98, but is very limited. To make sure it wasn't a conflict I restored a backup of my system made before I got the SM-1000 so there are no traces of SM-1000 drivers/software (aside from girder)on this machine.

Has anyone encountered similar issues with 98 and does anyone have any thoughts on what else I could try?

Thanks in advance.

Quint.
