I downloaded and installed 0.9.11. When I try to start it it tells me that the temporary key has expired, and then will not start. I had 0.9.10, but could not use it because of the bugs I found. How do I get to use this new version to try it out?

It this on Win32 or a PPC?

On a PPC, you can hard reset it to restart the trial period.

Otherwise, we have a 30 day no questions asked return policy.

It was Win32.

Is what you're saying with the 30-day policy is that I have to buy the beta NRD to actually get to test it out?

Mike - The Designer is only available for Windows.

mclark - The designer has a 60 day trial (currently). We don't have a way to reset it, unfortunately. I thought you had it working (on November 9th you said that you had done a bunch of ccf work).

Thanks!

Ben,

Unfortunately, I guess you misread what I said, and I didn't follow up to find out the status. What happened was that I submitted a bug report to the forum that I could not combine two CCFs together (JLee and Carlton Bane) and save the CCF to get the result I wanted. You stated in a reply that you had solved the problem and would be releasing a fixed version, which never came, until today. Now, it seems that I am out of alternatives. I was waiting for you to release the updated version so I could test if the combined CCF would work before making a purchase decision. If it worked, I had planned on purchasing over $200 worth of your products. I may still, but I want to play with it more before deciding.

The thread with our conversation is here http://www.promixis.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12868, at the end. A pre-release to test was said to be released on Nov. 18th, but didn't happen as far as I know (or at least I didn't get one to test).

My apologies, you are right, I misread your post. I'm sorry for the delay. This problem _is_ fixed, I assure you. Unfortunately I'm still unaware of a way to extend the previous trial date. I'll see if Ron knows of a way.

We'll be changing the trial keys over once the designer goes live (1 to 2 weeks, we think), and at that time trials will be reset (to 30 days).

Sorry about this, mclark. Thanks for being patient with us.

I can confirm that the designer can indeed copy from one CCF to another. In fact I have had several CCF's loaded at the same time. I am quite pleased with the new designer. Although I used Tonto proficiently the new designer is light years ahead of it and far easier to use. What concerns do you have with the new designer or Netremote that would prevent you from making the purchase (at a reduced rate while in beta)? It might still be considered beta but it is definetly usable. In fact I just finished a new skin for Now Playing using it.

I do not work for Promixis but as a user I feel the price of the designer is well worth it.

Not to go too far off-topic, but...

I am sure you are correct. It does seem like a good product. I just wanted a way to test before purchasing, because as I said I had planned on not only purchasing Designer, but also probably NR Pro+IR & Girder Whole Home Pro + UIRT (or Girder Pro + UIRT). That's a pretty big investment (at least to me). I don't know the first thing about automation, but I'd like to try it out. Among other things, I'd like to be able to control home stereo equipment, DVD, TiVo, etc. from a PDA anywhere in the house. I've found wireless speakers online, so I could have the radio play anywhere in the house, too, wherever I would want to put speakers. That would be nice, but they are expensive, though. Maybe there are alternatives.

Anyway, my problem was that I had reported the problem, and was expecting a resolution to be able to try out for myself, and then I was going to buy if it worked. That didn't happen, and I was a little shocked to find that there was a timeout on the beta. I hadn't run the program since being stuck at the file save problem because I was waiting for a resolution.

I will take your recommendatation into consideration and consider just buying it anyway, although I don't really like doing that usually (buying without a chance to try it out).

By the way, what is the upgrade policy on these products? I cannot find anything about it. When NR goes from 1.0.44 (or whatever it is) to 2.0, is there an upgrade fee? What about Girder? Just wanting some FYI for my reference.

Thanks.

Mark

Mark,

Girder 4 is in beta now and will be released shortly.

When NR 2.0 comes out, there will be an upgrade fee. We have not decided on how we are going to roll this out yet.

All our products have a 30 day no questions ask refund so you can try them without risk.

Given what you want to do, G and NR will work great for you.

Thank you for considering our software.

I just downloaded the latest (1/3/06) release of NRD and I get the "Key has expired" dialog box also.

Shouldn't loading the latest beta, restart the timer?

I have a licensed copy of NR as well as G4, do I have to buy a copy of NRD also?
If so, when/how will it be listed on the product pages?

TIA

Kerry

It does not do so.

Yes, NRD is a separate product which must be purchased separately.

You can purchase it now via this link (https://www.plimus.com/jsp/buynow.jsp?contractId=1650974) which gives you a 20% discount while NRD is still in beta (which will end soon).
