Well I had translucency in the Girder OSD, but I really didn't like what I saw. Why didn't I like it? because everything got translucent even the text that is drawn on the OSD. So I opted for a completely transparant background. ( Its an either or choice sadly, not the combination of them both. )

If the PopUp plugin ever gets transparency,I will add an alpha value to allow programatic control of the amount of transparency.

Ron or/and Mark, is it possible to implement a scaling to the transparency (an 8-bit alpha-value (opacity/transparency))? This will make the OSD very nice.
I suppose this request should be more to Mark because I think he is working on his OSD Popup plugin at the moment and Ron is drinking beer  after the well done job of releasing version 3.1 (and he deserves a little rest now)

Ron why didn't you leave it?
then the user can make it's choice
someone may like the way it looks
will you put it as an option in SimpleOSD?
