Help, about my ThinkPad R51

I have a R51 laptop which already has a IR port(IBM ThinkPad Fast Infrared Port at Intel 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller)
It doesn't seem to work with Girder.
How can I solve the problem?
Is it possible to use Girder without a USB IR adaptor?

This will not work for IR. You can do many things with Girder without and IR receiver. What are you looking for?
