I have been unable to get LDJ to work on my setup and would like to know if it is possible to setup Meedio and Girder to control my 2 Sony DVD changers to where I can just click on a image and then the dvd would start playing. I am currently setting up DVDProfiler for my 700+ dvds. If LDJ is the only way can someone please help me get it going (I am getting crashes when I select movies with 1024x768 and LUA errors whenever I run it now..I have reinstalled Girder 3.3, Netremote and netbridge to no avail. I even get an error in Girder that my USBUIRT plugin is the old one now:(. I have installed the latest version and copied it over my old one and even copied over the old api drv..still same error..)? I have never been able to see the covers that have been exported in .xml. I have been trying for a couple of weeks now to no avail and other than the dvd part Meedio was up and running in minutes.

What sort of crashes?
Which version of Dan's CCF are you using? The one that he posted recently in a thread (now do you see what I mean about confining posts about a given issue to a single thread?) somewhere or the older one from the standard download place?
Let's try to confine any new posts about this to this thread, then we can refer back to it, although I have to say that the original subject isn't an awful lot of help.

will do :)
I was using version 1.0 and then I tried the newer version that he posted in the thread.. I had everything working except the dvd part...and then since I was getting the 2nd event problem and the LUA error..I tried to uninstall netremote and reinstall (also trying to see if JR Media would work better) and that is when all the problems started. When ever I went into Dans 1024x768....there was no weather, crashed when trying to access the clocks and also crashed when I tried to access movies. So I uninstalled Netremote, 1024x768, Mediabridge and Girder and then wiped the last remaining files from the hdd. Now Girder says I have the wrong usbuirt installed (I have installed the latest one including the api too...I have even copied the new ones over the old ones as the directions said). I am back to Itunes for music (all the album covers work :D ( this is using the generic ccf file from install). As soon as I install any of the LDJ ccfs netremote starts hanging...I don't know where to go from here... I tried installing Meedio and it works perfectly (album covers, weather) but no dvd changer access that I know of..but I know that Girder can control it..just don't know how to make it see my dvds and control through Girder. What do I do now? I have purchase both Netremote pro+ir and Girder 4.0. This is all happening in Girder 3.3..since that is the only one supporting LDJ.

Maybe the first thing I could use some help on is getting rid of the Girder error about my USBUIRT not being the correct version. Then if we can work on getting Girder to send ir commands to my Sony dvd changers....that would be a good start and I could worry about Netremote or whatever interface later.. I would appreciate any help you can give me on this..

What is the exact error message you get about the USB UIRT?

I don't think that's the right DLL for the USB UIRT - mine is USBUIRT.DLL
Do you have a URL for the plugin that you downloaded?
Aha, that's the driver DLL that should be in windows\system32! It definitely doesn't belong in girder\plugins

thks,
I must've been sleeping to make that mistake.
Now the next step I would like to do is to send ir commands to my dvd changers.
I take it I am to setup another command group and program the commands to send out?
I have had bad luck with the other ccfs so I am thinking I should try it this way and then set it up to where I can select the command from Girder and get it to sending the commands via ir before I go further. Does that sound like a good idea?

Remind me which DVD Changer(s) you have?
I have 2 Sony cx985 changer which must be controlled by ir.
Another question....
I have my Autopatch 4ydm matrix video switcher all setup in Girder amd I also have a Russound CAV-6 (6zone controller).
objectives are:
.I need to have my setup to where when I click on zone 1 source 1...it sends the commands to both units. How do I set this up? Is it goimg to be a macro (if so can you get me going on this). Both of these are serial controlled via 2 seperate comm ports.
The Autopatch is always on and the Russound has power on commands to power up the keypads so I will have to have the keypads power up for whatever zone I am in also plus switch the zone active and pick the source. Does this make sense?
One last thing...would this be a good time to start learning Girder 4?

Ron

I think there's someone else here who has the same changer, unfortunately I can't quite remember who.

Yes, this would be a macro - although it's called a multigroup in G3. If you already have the individual commands working then you only need to create a new multigroup and drag the existing commands in to the multigroup (or use copy and paste)

Yes, it's always worth learning Girder 4

Do I have to make all my groups again for g4?
Rob H
January 9th, 2006, 12:46 AM
You can import most of them into G4 - any Lua ones will need to be edited, but may not require any changes.
Serial devices will probably be the most work though.

I have been inputting my hex code for controlling my Russound CAV-6. I'm making good progress now :D . If you can assist me on getting the ir commands out of G3 to the changers that would be nice.

will this work..or do I need to make groups for each command(dvd changer part)? Maybe you might also have some suggestions on layout of command structure fore me.

Now if I want ....
select track to play then..
the Autopatch to switch to masterbedroom and DVD changer 1
the Russound to switch to masterbedroom and DVD changer 1
power up the dvd changer
What do I do to make all this happen with one command (in simple terms please as I have never done this part before)?

Okay, create a new group (or top-level group) in your GML called Macros
Then create a new multigroup for this and rename it something like "Master bedroom DVD changer 1"
Add a command to the multigroup, then from the Girder tab (bottom right), select Goto from the dropdown, and press the Browse button. Select the first step of the macro you are trying to create and then press the Apply button
For each step of your macro(multigroup) do the same thing. It's probably a good idea to rename each step as you go
Now test the multigroup.
If it's working then you may want to assign an eventstring to it.
Incidentally, I notice that in your Russound CAV-6\Master Bedroom\Tuner Source 1 group you have a Family Room group - which seems a bit odd. Is that supposed to be there?

Thanks, works like a charm :) .
Now why do you assign an event string and how do I do that?
thanks for finding the error in my russound..working with a wireless keyboard and a mouse does cause it's problems..

You'd assign an eventstring to it so that it can be triggered from e.g. a remote or an external program such as NetRemote
ellisr63
January 13th, 2006, 02:44 PM
So how would you setup an outside device...Netremote or Meedio to run the eventscript?

It's been a while since I had to do this in G3.3, but as I recall :-
In Girder :-
Select your command or multigroup
In the drop down at the top right select Internet Event Server
Press the 'Learn event' button
In the dialog that pops up type the eventstring that you want to use to trigger the command.
Press OK
In NR Designer :-
Create your button
Open the action designer for the button
In the tree you should find Plugins\Girder(-1)\G3:
Within that folder you should see an item with the name of the eventstring that you used. Just drag that to the action list for the button

I have all the macros working now....should I put them in a sub folder in each zone/input or just leave them all in a macros folder?

I'd probably put them in sub folders of the zones I guess, but there's no hard and fast rule.

Got another question.... I made my event and when I did the learn event I wanted to send 2 codes ie. 11 for zone 1 input 1, 12 for zone 1 input 2 etc.. How do I do this? It def didn't like it when i sent the number twice.

Now i am doing the ir out commands for the dvd changers and the sat receivers....How do I send a ir command for 3 or 4 commands? Do i have to make 400 macros for 400 dvds? Foe example disk number 400 would take the command 4,0,0 and enter which is 4 commands to play 1 dvd
