That's what I did but I thought that there could be a better way which I didn't know off to do this.

Ron can the SimpleOSD timeout somehow be set to "infinite"?
I't strange how the human forgets. I few weeks ago I explain to somebody how to configure the timeout of the SimpleOSD and yesterday I asked the very same question.
 I probably sounded very stupid

Ron, firstly i'd like to say what a brilliant piece of programming Girder is. I'm spending most of my day trying to think of things to control with it. Oh, and thanks to all you guys who do the plugins, awesome !
Anyway, to the point. I have a file with multiple uses of the Simple OSD. I can set different timeouts for each of them, which works fine for my purposes. Except when I save and then reload the file. All OSD timeouts seem to revert to some kind of default.
Am I thick, or is it a bug ??
I've read http://www.girder.nl/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=1237&forum=2 but it doesn't cover this particular problem.
Cheers.
