1. Will Netremote allow me to browse my music AND movie collection in MCE via my PPC? i.e. when my tv is off
2. If so. In that instance when my tv is off and I see a movie I'd like to watch or a song I'd like to listen too on my PPC can I hit a button that will turn on the correct devices and do the correct switching to listen or watch my selection. In other words from within the same program can I browse my MCE content and still control my AV equipment.
3. What exactly do I need, program wise, installed on my PPC to have the functionality described above. i.e. grider, media bridge, netremote?

Thanks in advance!

Answers to your questions:
1. Not in the current production version, but the beta that is currently available supports this. Are you talking video files, or DVD files?
2. Yes, this would require you to create a custom CCF with these actions, but this is possible, yes.
3. On your PPC, you just need NetRemote Pro or Pro+IR. On your MCE PC, you'll need MediaBridge, and probably Girder.

Thank you Ben.

1.I'd like to be able to view both DVD and video files. Is there a difference using Netremote?
2. If understand CCFs correctly, they are custom screen layouts for individual devices. In my case. MCE, a Marantz reciever, Toshiba TV, and Comcast box. In my scenario I would be looking at the MCE ccf select a DVD, and I would have programing that would do the correct switching and turning on of devices, a CCF for controlling DVD playback would come up and the DVD would begin. Is this correct? Am I in for some serious programing to get this to work?
3. I've been browsing the Forum for a couple weeks and I'm still unsure exactly how Netremote, Mediabridge and Grider function together. I'd really like some clarification as it pertains to my set up. I'm guessing I would need Netremote ProIR because I'd be using Wifi to communicate with my PC and IR for my other devices. How would I know if I need Grider?

Thanks Again!

Some of the questions will be better answered once the MCE support is complete.

1.I'd like to be able to view both DVD and video files. Is there a difference using Netremote?

In picking what to play, yes. In play, pause, etc. No.

That's one way of doing it. The other would be to setup screen layouts for actions (watching a movie, etc.).

IE: Have a "watch movie" screen where it does everything you need to watch a movie.

1. NetRemote can run on one or more clients acting as the remote.
2. MediaBridge runs on one or more servers, and is the "glue" to control a media player such as iTunes, WMP, MCE, WinAmp, or JRMC.
3. Girder is a super powerful automation solution that handles everything else.

Much thanks Ben.

What type of support for MCE are you speaking of?

I'm kinda supprised Netremote doesnt have more compatibility/functionality with MCE. I dont see it talked about as much as I was expecting when I first heard of Promixis.

Have a great day!
