Is it possible to use the IR device that connect to your motherboard and can be used for comunicating with mobile phones and other IR devices, to receive the signals from remote controls and make them work with girder?

I am curently using IRMan and I love it! It's the best IR receiver. But also I have the IR device I connect to my motherboard (ABIT) and can be used insted of COM2 port with my Mobile Nokia 8210 phone. Can I use it with girder?
