Hi Guys

I am using Meedio as my HTPC front end. Girder is my controlling software, and Netremote soon to be on my WebPad remote.

I have wanted tighter integration between Meedio & Girder for a while and wanted Meedio to send messages to girder based upon where I was in the Menu Structure.

Anyway _ I figured out a rather simple way to do this. Be warned though - while the concept is simple - the configuiration involved can get rather complex depending on how far you want to take this.

See attached word document for my tip.

Hi,

Thanks Nurowolf for the great explanation on how to use nested modules, I didn't know this method was that versatile.

again, thanks for sharing

Nuro, great document! I have some questions about this quote from your document:

Using these configurations and disabling Back on the menu structure (replace it with your own custom back menu item) You can send messages to Grider telling it exactly where you are in the Meedio Menu Structure. This can be used for VFD control or for enhanced automation of the home.
When you say you can tell exactly where you are, it won't be all the way to the sub-menus, right? As an example, if you go to the Movies Module in Meedio, you can use your method, but if you select a movie to see its details, that won't work, correct? I'd love if it was possible to track everytime you go to a different screen in Meedio!

That leads me to the second question. I can see why you don't want the Back function, since you won't be able to track if you're going back from the Movies Module to Meedio home, but wouldn't you need the back function to go from, for example, the Movie Details screen to the main Movie module? Or any other sub-option, for that matter? Is that why you suggest a custom back menu item? If so, what kind of custom back item?

Thanks!
