View Full Version : Tira 2.1 vs. IRtrans vs USB-UIRT

I should have come here and done some research first. I ordered a Tira 2.1 (http://www.home-electro.com/tira2.php) from home-electro.com and then after receiving it and having some problems with G4.0 hanging up I read more about it over on this thread:

:x with such terrible support I will be returning the Tira! I do not need these headaches. So I have just ordered my USB-UIRT but was wondering if anyone has heard of or had experience with the IRtrans (http://www.irtrans.de/en/index.php) (USB & Ethernet models available)? They do look very nice and have many interesting features such as Ethernet option with built in Webserver and firmware/bootloader update capability.

Hi, I have not tried the IRTrans but have heard they work great.

thats good to know. any significant reason to spend the extra $ for that model? (currently ~237.00 USD for the IRtrans serial model) vs. the UIRT?

well I guess I was looking at the Mediacontroller (http://www.irtrans.de/en/shop/mediacontroller.php) which apparently is the wrong thing. At €197 it was roughly $237. I see they have a simple USB module that is €99. I find their product catalog to be very confusing.... a "side by side" feature comparison page would be extremely helpful!
