View Full Version : Mac Mini running XP - would remotes possibly work?

Rookie question here - just thought I'd check!

I have a Mac Mini running XP as my front end for my Sage TV server hooked to my plasma - works excellent. Currently I have a USBUIRT on there and I'm sending command through Girder that way - I'm wonder what the capabilities of the built in remote sensor on the Mini are, though - they have their own little remote/stick thing but I'm curious is it even possible to get a driver for this such that other remotes could work with Girder without requiring the external USBUIRT device.

it'd be pretty slick... kind of doubt it's doable but thought I'd check to see if anyone knows something about this.

thanks

Long shot since this is Mac hardware but is that remote receive a hid device? (look at the hid plugin).

Looks like the IR reciever driver is not yet up to snuff on the Mini running in XP - supposedly it will be in a later release from Apple - it's listed there under HID but it's not operational in XP yet.

so presumably when (if) it is, we might be able to use it with Girder? That'd be slick...

hopefully, most hid devices will work
