Let me guess you are using SFH-56 ( Igor ) plug.

Winlirc uses the same mechanism as IgorPlug. See the explanation here:

You could try the Igor plugin, this might give better results instead of using Winlirc.

When I play a videofile in windows media player at the same time as I try to use my remote does girder hardly respond!
And it isn't the batteries (new) and I don't think it's the computer (Duron 800mhz, 384sdram, Ge2, WinXP). When playing is the CPU below 30% use.

Short version: What can I do to make girder to respond better when I'm playing a videofile in windows media player ?

No, I use WinLirc for recieving the signals from my remote... (winlirc version 0.6.2 and girder version 3.1.2e)
