I am still in my trial period. When I originally tried 1.1, it didn't work for me and I found the 2.0 beta in this forum.

I was having great luck with 2.0.0.68 on PPC, but then I decided to try 2.0.0.70. After that, my volume, mute, and position slider stopped working. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, reverting versions, etc., and nothing I did worked. Then I read here that for WM5 you had to use the host PC's IP address and not the name… I did that and everything started working again.

Then I was trying to decide what to do about purchasing since my trial was almost up. I'm sorry, but to be asked pay for beta software really rubs me the wrong way. Then I find out the Music version is no longer being offered, and this is going to cost me twice what I was expecting. Since I was brand-new to PPC and NetRemote when I originally tried version 1.1, I decided to try it again thinking maybe it didn't work because of the IP address thing or just my newbieness to PPC. Well, the 1.1 version didn't work with the CCF I had customized a little for my needs. So, I put 2.0.0.70 back on.

Then the problem came back where the volume, mute, and position slider stopped working. This time I reinstalled only MediaBridge and that seemed to fix it.

Then last night I had to do a hard reset on my PPC and today I'm rebuilding. I just put NR 2.0.0.70 on and I'm getting the same thing where volume, mute, and track position don't work. ARRRGGGG! In addition, I now have an error something about a COM port being in use… but I am just ignoring that for now.

This time reinstalling MediaBridge isn't helping. I'm getting really frustrated here! If this wasn't the only PPC remote control software for working with J River MC, I would be so over this. My next plan of action is to restart both the PC and PPC, reinstall MediaBridge again, and see what happens. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

The restart and reinstall seems to have done the trick. Hopefully I won't have to mess with this for any other reason.

Sue, a few things.

1) Try disabling "autodiscovery". Autodiscovery is probably finding your server and using it's name instead of IP address.
2) The "paying for 2.0 beta" is a little strange, I agree. But On the other side of the coin people have been complaining about buying 1.1 and then realizing 2.0 will be available soon and wanting their money back, so we decided to pull the ability to purchase 1.x completely for now, understanding that purchasing 2.x will give you keys to run 1.x for now if the beta isn't for you. Which features of the CCF don't work in 1.1? Unless you've changed NRD to NRD 1.1 format, the CCF -should- work in NR 1.1.
3) I'm sorry you're having problems. Please let me know if you have the problem with volume, etc. again and I'll work directly with you to make sure it works 100%.

Thanks for your support, Sue, and once again, I'm sorry your having difficulty.

I don't think I ever had autodiscovery enabled, and it's disabled now.

I think the features of the CCF which didn't work in 1.1 were the hard buttons control, and a stop button I added. These were the two main things I customized in the default NR Music skin from 1.1. I really need the hard buttons control since I'm using this outdoors where the screen can be hard to see.

I had attempted to start a high contrast skin for PPC, but I'm finding NRD pretty challenging for starting from scratch.

Anyway, it is working now, so I hope it sticks.
