Ok ,
With IRDA connection (mobile-pc) i have a virtual com port (COM4)!
Using that port i can sent messages with Girder but Girder is not reading the incoming messages from the mobile.
What is the problem now?
Thanks
John

John,
Please check whether your mobile was installed properly, as you mention to use COM1 I presume this is not the case.
Normally a com port emulation is needed because the signals between the COM port and your mobile are not true RS232 and need some conversion. Vendors solve this by writing a virtual COM port driver that handles a virtual port (i.e. COM3) to read/write data to the real COM port (i.e. COM1).
Please check with Ericcson technical support as needed.

John,
I'm at least happy ( :D ) to hear it's possible to send SMS messages.
Now about the receiving I suggest you try following:
1) in the 'Incoming SMS' tab of the 'Mobile SMS Configuration' dialog make sure to clear the 'Qualifying-message-prefix' and 'Qualifying-from-numbers' list
2) Now press F9 to enable devices and send an SMS to your mobile.
If this isn't working you'll have to:
1) start 'regedit' and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Girder3\Hardplugins\SM S where you modify or insert a string value called 'flags' and set it to '2'
2) restart Girder, 'enable devices' (F9) and send an SMS to your mobile, in the meantime the 'Mobile SMS' plugin will create 'sms.log' in the Girder program directory.
3) now 'disable devices' and send 'sms.log' to me or have a look in it yourself to see what's happening at the AT+ command level.

Hi John,
I was a bit cheap last time () so there's not enough info in the logfile, sorry for that, can you do following:
1) delete the current sms.log
2) set 'flags' to '7' in the registry
3) again 'enable devices' and send an SMS to your mobile
4) also try to send an SMS via your mobile
5) send me the 'sms.log' via email
My guess is there is some control character (:-?) in the reply of your mobile, but nothing we can't fix I think. ( :o)

John,
I checked the sms.log you sent me and it seems that your mobile is responding with an error to the AT+CMGL command. This is to retrieve a list of messages stored in it.
I'll send you an app called ATSCAN.EXE, start this and:
1) go to the 'Options' tab to select the correct virtual COM port
2) in the 'Single Command' tab enter 'AT+CMGL' and press enter
3) check the reply in the listbox below
Normally ( :D) you'll see a lot of output coming from the mobile, describing all the messages in it's memory, but in your case it will merely respond with 'ERROR' I guess ( :-? ). Please confirm.
In the meantime I'll try to find some support documents at the Ericcson website, keep up the faith... ( )
Jo
