I just installed the latest NetRemote en MediaBridge (NetRemote 2 beta Suite 2.0.0.70). NetRemote on my PDA MediaBridge on a MCE computer. The 'integration' of MB with MCE is now standard i saw, very good!
I do have one question: When in the Library tab in NR I see: albums, artists & genres. But i miss some kind of 'All' option, where all the music found in the WMP Library is shown. Is this possible on a different way maybe?

If someone is going to look into this, i like a music library to be sorted by dir structure, so it shows up just like opening the 'Music' folder with windows explorer.

Hi,
I have this feature on my ccf. I was going to release it but on .74 it ran into some problems so i sent it to ben.
I learnt about it here - http://www.promixis.com/forums/showpost.php?p=93680&postcount=17
JLee shows how to set a different root for media tree. I use this example to create a gac view that shows all my favorite views created in JRMC.

There is no "all" right now, sorry.
Dan - Have you looked into using the File Paths feature of MediaBridge to give you exactly what you're looking for regarding a dir structure?

Hi Ben,
This does look to be exactly what im after, however when i choose a track from this list and hit play it doesnt seem to do anything. Do i need to tell it what i want it to play the file with or something? I noticed same thing when browsing video clips from the file paths menu, when i choose play how is it to know where to send the file to be played?

What media player are you using, Dan? This should play the file in the current media player.
This definitely should work in JRMC, MCE, and WMP.

Hi Ben,
I tried it with winamp and the foobar plugin.
How about the videos? how do i set what to play them with? and the pix, i use zoombrowser to view images, how do i send the images to the app?

Any file gets sent to the active player.
We have some things in our sleeves for a future version of MediaBridge that will do more of this for you, but for now only the active player is supported. You _could_ get the file path and pass it to Girder to send to Zoom.

Hi Ben,
At the moment i am using palypick to perform this function so there's no need to come up with another solution, however i am keen to see what you come up with for MediaBridge in the future.

Ben,
Im using File Paths now to give me my library by directory structure, its exactly what i was after!
I have added 2 directories under 'file paths' the first is the path to my lossless files a small collection of cd's in .flac format and the second to a larger collection of files in compressed (.mpc) format.
The first path works well but i cant get the mpc files to load into the player, when i choose 'add' the current playlist is cleared but nothing is added. If i manually load the track to the player the NR playlist updates fine.
Can u suggest a solution?
@kjd: if your winamp library is based on 1 directory you can add the same directory to 'file paths' and this will effectively give you the "all music" list you were after.
Dan
ok it has nothing to do with the .mpc factor, now my lossless files are not adding either. I can still add from the regular library list, Artist, album, Genre.
I thought maybe it was related to the foobar plugin so i have tested with winamp as well. With winamp i can add the lossless files but not the .mpc and with the foobar2000 i cant add anything under file paths....

Interesting. What about JRMC or WMP? This playing of files this way needs to be implemented in the plugin, so it's possible the WinAmp support is not yet there (though I thought it was) and I'll need to see if Brett is supporting this on the foobar side.

Hi Ben,
Brett posted an update to the foobar200 plugin and now both players are giving the same results, they can add from the first directory under file paths but not the second.
I will play around some more and see if i can come up with some sort of reason or pattern.
Cheers

Ok,
I think i fluked it and got to the bottom of it in 2 minutes flat :)
I could be wrong but i think the problem is the files need to be in the music library before the will be played by the player.
if i can prove myself wrong i'll let you know

Ok Ben,
Im pretty sure that is the issue. I can only add/play a track from file paths if that same track is in the players music library. If its not and play is selected the playlist is cleared but nothing is added and if add is selected you can see the list refresh but nothing is added.
Cheers

So does it sound like you have a workaround, or is this an outstanding issue? It sounds specific to one or more media players.

Dan,
Obviously I can't speak for the WinAmp side, but the way the Foobar plugin implements file paths is completely seperate from the library, and it shouldn't be an issue if the file isn't in the library (and it tests fine on my machine). However, I'm not sure I know what you meant with "they can add from the first directory under file paths but not the second." What you are seeing (at least with the Foobar plugin) when you press play and the queue empties but nothing is added, is the first thing the to plugin does when play is pressed is to empty the queue, in then tries to add the files requested, and apparently no files are being added. The Foobar plugin will try to add any file that isn't a directory, a couple of versions back it sometimes mistaked a file for a directory and wouldn't add it but I changed the check and this should no longer be a problem. Also, remember it only adds files that are sent to it and it doesn't get sent any files that are in subdirectories. (Also, the Foobar plugin will let you run MediaBridge and Foobar on different machines, in which case it will get confused if the directory structure isn't the same, but I assume you are running them on the same box)
If you are seeing different things than what is expected and you can't add files that aren't in the library let me know I may have to recheck the file paths thing.
Thanks,
Brett

Hi,
However, I'm not sure I know what you meant with "they can add from the first directory under file paths but not the second." Since i wrote that i have worked out that the first directory was in the music library but the second was not.
I -suspect- the problem is not with the foobar2000 plugin as it is behaving exactly the same as winamp.
So does it sound like you have a workaround, or is this an outstanding issue?
Technically i guess i do have a workaround because i can get it to work by adding everything to my library BUT it would be much better for playing files that are temporarily on my machine or soon to be moved (New Rips) if i could add paths without having to rescan the whole library.
It sounds specific to one or more media players.
I tested this out with WMP and i didnt have any problem. But no matter how i went about it with winamp and foobar2000 i couldnt get a file to add unless it was in the library, so yes it is specific to particular players, i havnt tested with JRMC or iToones.
Does anyone else see the same problem i am having?
Cheers

After trying in WMP and getting the player to load all paths, irrespective of whats in the media library, i switched back to foobar and discovered the paths that would not previously be loaded all fired just fine.
I added a new path that was not in the library nor had it been played in WMP and it also loaded and played the files, so i think all is well.
Seems a little odd but there you go!
Dan
Jumped the gun there... Winamp still wont add a track that is not in the media library.
