Guys, The Scientific Atlante Cable box Explorer 3100HD uses a remote with a carrier frequency higher then our USB-UIRT can detect. However it should be able to broadcast it. Is there anyone out there that has the codes for it's remote either in a GML or CCF format? I've had several requests for this now and would love to be able to help these people.
Thanks!

:-) hmm, that might just work!

Well it's incredibly hard to figure out which of all those IR signals in there are the right ones, so here is a GML please test if any of the 3 actions actually work on the S.A. box.

Hello Ron,
The GML file you sent me does work with the SA cable box. Can you please help me find or put together a file with the remaining functions.
Thanks for all of your help... David

Great! Which commands work? All of them?

Yes the best I can tell I know for sure that the toggle and the number one work. Please let me know what else I need to do... thanks

I've added a whole bunch more. Please test each of them and let me know what the do. (work/don't work/what function).

All of the numbers work correctly. Left right up and down all work well. L switches to the previous channel. Select works. Hdtv toggle turns the cable box on and off.
In the setup folder... set up brings up quick settings... set down brings up General settings... menu works as the guide button on my remote... Page up, page down and exit all work properly.
Channel select, enter, test, return and all ssp functions Don't seem to do anything
Where are you getting these codes?
Thanks again for all your help... David

I am getting these codes from the file that Rob linked to above. I am using the NetRemote Designer to extract the so called CCF codes from the 'ccf' file. Do we have all the functionality you need now?

I tried to build a GML file for my Pioneer DV-F 727 (DVD player) and my Marantz SR 8400 receiver. With both systems I tried to add a USB-UIRT action but when I was prompted to learn a function on the remote there was no response. If I am not trying to learn a code both remotes logged a code in the girder software.
Thanks for your continued help. I am physically disabled (paralyzed from the shoulders down) and your help has allowed me to change channels on my television for the first time in over a year. Probably sounds small to some but you have no idea what a change it is for my quality of life.
Thanks again... David

There are a number of things to try - first, and probably most important is to make sure you use new batteries in the remote you are trying to learn from.
Second, experiment with the distance between the USB-UIRT and the remote - I've found that with a few remotes it is best to have the remote fairly close to the USB-UIRT, e.g. an inch away rather than the 6 inches that the instructions recommend.
Third, make sure that there are no other infrared sources that can interfere e.g. other remotes with buttons pressed down accidentally (I've had that happen to me), plasma screens, or even sunlight on the USB-UIRT.
As far as the Marantz is concerned though, you would probably be better using the serial connection - it's a much better way of controlling an AV device since you can usually get feedback from it. There's a serial device for the SR8500 here - http://www.promixis.com/download.php?ID=952 which will probably work for the 8400.

I'm a little confused because the Girder program captures a code as long as I am not trying to "learn" into a GM L. file. Am I following the proper procedure
Thanks for your help... David

So, you've added a USB-UIRT action to your GML? And pressed the Learn IR Code button?

yes that is the procedure I used but it doesn't record from either remote. Both remotes send a code to Girder when I'm not trying to learn a new action.

You said you where able to record with some other remote in the house. Can you try that again? Maybe you are in the unlucky situation that you actually have equipment that all uses the higher carrier frequency. Then you'd have to find all the code in the same manner I found the cable box codes.

I have not been able to record but both remotes make the USB-URIT LED flash and send a code to the Girder software. Is there a way I can capture the codes and build a gml file from that.
Ron

The Record function will have to work to be able to send out a code.

ok... any ideas?

You could learn how to do the CCF extracting and entering into a GML.

don't I require another software package for that?

I found ccf files for both remotes and downloaded them however I am unable to open the ccf files
Ron

To open CCF files you should get the NetRemote Designer. Then in there find the learned-CCF codes and copy and paste them into the USB-UIRT action inside Girder. I know, it's a pain. :(

I downloaded net remote designer and tried to open the ccf files that I downloaded but got a message saying they were a incompatible version of ccf file. Is there another way around this? I also tried to create a ccf file but it doesn't respond to my remote.

Where did you download the CCF file from?

I downloaded them from remote central

From which files section of the website though?

ok maybe I am starting to understand. I downloaded a ccf file for a Philips remote. That is the only 1 listed for the remote that I have so am I now at a point that I have to find something close and just use trial and error

What was the name of the CCF you downloaded?
DSmith9669
July 25th, 2006, 10:50 AM
pio-dvd-dvf07.zip
mar-rec-sr7400.zip

You may want to download Tonto instead of NRD - that should open a TS1000 file and let you copy the IR codes. www.giantlaser.com
Alternatively, if you can find a CCF that was designed for a Pronto Pro TSU 6000 or a Marantz RC9200 then you should be able to open that in NRD.

OK I have constructed a couple of GML files through a pretty painstaking process and still have my receiver file to build. How do I make a CCF. file then I can use net remote which I now understand is the program that interfaces with Girder to make it user-friendly.
Thanks again... David

I'm glad you were able to get the codes out of those CCFs. Yeah I know it's painfull to extract codes from it.
The NetRemote Designer is the way to make CCFs for NetRemote.

The Net Remote Designer is totally kicking my butt. It seems like I should not have to start from scratch.
Also when I try to take an ir Code from Girder I'm getting a information box that says the ir Code is invalid but it works in Girder.
Is there anywhere to find some kind of tutorial? Of
Ron

Best to ask on the NetRemote forum and start a new thread.
