As you are aware, girder is free, meaning that no money is made by Ron (girder author) or any of the plugin developers. Documentation takes a lot of time and effort to write, but it is being written slowly.
I recently updated/completed the documentation for the action pages and will continue doing some more as and when I have time.
Ron has also recently written the 'Getting started Guide' and a number of other pages.
On the other hand, it is realised that girder can only be made accessible to more users by writing easy to understand documentation.
See http://www.girder.nl/help/girderhelp/actions.php for help with controlling cool edit pro. I do not have this app so I can't find out how to control it. My guess would be that it uses messages to do certain things. Specifically, look at the command tab in actions, and try to capture events (using the capture button) - sorry but there's no docs for the capture window...yet!

I wasn't complaining at you, just explaining why the documentation is a bit short! :)
Did alt-f display the filemenu? If not did you try alternative proc checked?
Did you set the correct target window (you have to experiment to find the right one)?
Are there any keyboard shortcuts for rewinding? The keyboard commands are usually a lot more reliable than the mouse commands.

Hi,
I am new and have done the basic getting started text (which I thought was very well written incidently). I am mucking about and trying and set something up so I can control Cool Edit pro with my remote. I expect it is simple but the getting started only deals with text entry. I need to be able to hit buttons in the apps. Can anyone give me pointers as to how to do this? I have had a few attempts but so far had no sucess.
Incidently why isn't there a general tutorial on this sort of area? I am sure I can't be the only one baffled as a beginner and not able to follow the techincal explainations of each box. I of course understand if it is just that no one has had time or inclination to do it yet :-)

Yep I was worried you might think I was asking for too much. Hence I tried to say I expected it was because it was a free program and not written. I hope you didn't take me wrong. I am very appriciative.
I have played and discovered the Command window seems to be the one I need to play in and that the capture buttom is jolly handy. I have managed to acheve a very crude way of rewinding a file a little but if you were doing it by the mouse (the only way) you would normally hold the button down for say 3 or 4 seconds continuiously. Is there a way to similate this? I just ended up caputing a command from after the click and it kind of works but it seems to make the application do something it was not designed for. As I say I have got round it but clearly I haven't hit the correct way of doing this.
Another thing I have been trying to do is going onto the file menu and open the first file in the history. Alt-f 1 would be the sequence. I couldn't get the keyboard command to work with Alt checked and f1 in the sequence. I therefore tried it as Alt-f in one command and 1 in another. No joy. I then reconsidered and wondered if I could do it with mouse clicks. It seems the caputure generates 3 commands. Presummably one to get the app in focus. One to open file menu and one to click the item. I didn't need the focus so I used the 2nd two commands but again I had no joy.
Any tips would be handy thanks

Alt-F as a single command displayed the menu as long as the application was in focus. I couldn't get it to do it as part of a multi-command.
I mainly went for the Blue Bar window but I will try others.
No there only way of rewinding is my mouse it seems. Oh well if works enough if no one else has anything to suggest.
