Basic IR question for new user

Hi I have just set up my USB UIRT and girder 4. I have created a new gml and saved all my IR commands from my remote in the GML. I have then linked the commands behind buttons in Netremote. When I use netremote on the PC the commands work perfectly. My problem is when I use the commands on my PDA nothing happens. I also notice that girder does not log any transactions from the PDA. The other commands on the PDA work fine, ie media bridge music. I have checked the plugin setting for girder and it is set to girder 4.
Can anybody please help an inexperienced user.

Mark, what are you plugin settings for G4 in NetRemote?

Below is my settings. They are basically the standard settings.

Host : MARKCOMPUTER
Port : 20005
Password :girder
Mode: Girder 4

Instance is (-1).

Are these correct?

Those settings look fine.

If you go into File|Settings then on the bottom left you should see NetRemote in the Automation section. Can you check to see if you have an active connection in their for your PDA?

If not this is likely a networking issue, probably due to a firewall.

Hi Mike,

Yes I do. But what I have noticed is that if I press any button on the PDA that uses USB Uirt, that girder falls over with a "Access violation at address 7E0F50E9 in module 'lua5.dll'. Read of address 00000000".

So I am assuming I have some sort of setup error. Can you please give me some ideas where I should start looking.

Try entering the IP address of the Girder computer in the plugin settings of the PDA.

So Girder crashes for you if you press a button on NetRemote? I'm very interested in reproducing this here. Can you give me the exact steps to reproduce?

Hi Ron,
Yes girder crashes when I push buttons on my netremote pda which use usbuirt commands. If I use media bridge or other commands like mouse control all works fine. Everything works perfectly from netremote on the PC.

I am not sure why I have the IR pluggin connected when I am not using it, ie I think I am using girder passthrough for IR commands? I feel I have some conflict between the IR commands, but are not sure where to look.

Girder has stopped crashing now that I have removed the IR pluggin. Girder shows the PDA is connected and then says"Time Date Source Details Payloads
20:58:00:952 9/6/2006 NetRemote Synchronising client 192.168.0.2 {ffffcf47-ca07-4fff-a2e8-ffff0f83ffff}". But after that is does not show any other entries from the PDA in the log. I am trying to use usb uirt but with no luck. It works with the Netremote on the PC. I have tried entering the IP address direct into the plugin. But no luck. Can anybody give me any help?

Thank you for your help. I have solved the problem. It was something to do with instances on the PDA. I changed it and all is working. I feel so much better.
