Hello,

I have read about NetRemote and Girder but i am confused which one to purchase (one or both). plz help me.

My requirements:
I want to control TV, Radio, DVD Player, Computer applications like Window Media Player, etc. Which one is the best according to my requirements?

Also, I want to customize the functionality of the purchased one: I want to write a program which will use the functionality of the purchased one (NetRemote or Girder or both) in the order I want. Will I be able to use those functionalities using my program? Do i need some extra software/hardware?

Best Regards

NetRemote will control your media player on your computer. It can also use IR to control your TV/DVD/etc but you must point the remote at your TV, and frankly the IR on most PDAs is pretty bad.

Girder allows you to control your entire computer as well as sending IR commands (through an extra adapter such as USB-UIRT or Global Cache) to devices within range of the adapter via user defined actions.

NetRemoteR will send commands to Girder to activate any action. While it is possible to set up a nice user interface in Girder, it is not really designed for this. By the same token, NetRemote is not really designed for complex, heavy logic programming (although it is entirely possible).

It sounds like if you want more than just control over a media player on your computer and/or more than just an IR application for your PDA, I would reccomend getting both.
