Girder refuses to load the irman/hollywood+ drivers. Tried the Evation Irman and the Hollywood+. Com ports 2, 5 and 6. Two different USB to serial converters all without succes. If I switch the entire PC it works normally. The only difference I can see is the Windows XP language. On a English XP it works, it fails on a Dutch XP version.
The CM11 on com1 works on both systems.
XP latest patch version. Girder 4.08

Toegang geweigerd translates as Access denied.

Something may be making an assumption about the names of directories e.g. expecting to have C:\Program Files rather than the Dutch equivalent.

You could try using Filemon from www.sysinternals.com to see what is being accessed.

Thanks for the tip. I tried filemon and I don't see anything strange. Also tried portmon which doesn't work on XP.

Portmon should work on XP - I use it here. Perhaps you downloaded the Win95 version by mistake?

I will have another look at portmon.

Girder 4.0.8.1 is running now and to my suprise the UIR init error has changed:
UIR Failed to initialize De bewerking is voltooid.
Which translates as Edit has completed or something similar.

yes portmon does work.
I have more or less solved the problem. The workaround is: start girder, unplug and plug the usb serial converter and restart girder.
This is very strange because the usb serial converters are in use for many years with different hardware and software without any problems (excluding this girder problem).

I recently bought one of these usb-serial convertors to find out why they are not working. I'll see what I can find out.
