Generic serial plugin

I have downloaded the trial version of girder 4 and I am not able to use a generic serial device as it cannot be assigned to a com port; I have read on your website that serial plugins require girder pro; is this the case or is there a way to try it?

The trial should work just fine. Make sure nothing else is hogging the com port.
