I'd like to reserve some numbers including the first TreeScript Conditionals!

Actions:

40 - Event Translation. This Action generates a new event from scratch or containing elements of the event that triggers it.

41 - Event Pump. This Action sends any event which triggers it to a remote computer running Girder with the comserv plugin.

Conditionals:

40 - Event Filter. This Conditional blocks events from ranges of Device Numbers from triggering the node to which it is attached or any child nodes.

41 - Comserv Conditional. This conditional is true if a specified Girder computer is able or is unable to receive events via the Event Pump (i.e. is online or offline).

Hi,

Could I reserve a group of actions for my file functions, please. May I suggest 60 - 69. Unless someone else has those.

I actually only need 8 action numbers, but that would leave scope for expansion if required?

As a temporary mesure, I am using 900- 907 on my machine.

TIA
:)

Would it be possible to set aside some DUI numbers for user scripts (I'm playing with a few things, some might be relevant to other people, others might not make nuch sense to share)?

Say, anything number from 1500 to 2000 is for custom application?

Finally, I'd be interested in taking a few DUI numbers for

Rotel RSX-1055 receiver (just a handful of events, so I don't mind sharing with, for instance, other Rotel equipment users)

Sony VPL-VW10HT projector (again, just a few events)

Thanks

Could I get some treescript DUI numbers set aside, please?

First, for the Outlook scheduler management subsytem, I need a plugin number and 2 automation config subtypes
(I developed on 55 and 56, but can obviously change if those are reserved)...and while I don't have any yet, I can see 10-12 actions possible.

Second, for the global variable conditional, I need a single action subtype.

Thanks!

I need an Action to go along with the global variable Conditional (triggers a node based on variable value). You assigned me 101 for the Conditional, but Action 101 is taken by GlobalCache. Since I've not yet posted the Conditional, could you maybe reassign and give me a Conditional and Action with the same ID? Would seem to make sense....

Thx!

April 26th, 2006, 01:49 AM
Hey guys, I need a device ID and a block of type codes for the speech recognition plugin.

I currently have 1 config, 13 actions, and 2 conditionals.

If I add telephony support I will likely need a few more of each, though I suspect most of the telephony stuff would probably be managed in a different plugin with another device ID.

Thanks!

P.S. Is there some reason why config/action/conditionals aren't kept together within a single block of numbers?

Mike,

I might have misunderstood the usage of the DUI treescript codes.

Do I need anything other than a device id if the plugin is written in C/C++ and does not implement any of the forms in Lua? Or do I still need to allocate numbers for each of the forms? If so, wouldn't I need more than one number if I have multiple action forms?

I'm definitely a little confused.

-g.b.

Ron
April 26th, 2006, 01:59 PM
If you are not implementing the DU using the treescript plugin (by putting a lua file in the plugins\treesscript directory) you don't need any other numbers just use your plugin number on any dui form you need.

I have expaned my current backup script, using the zip extensions, to a component to allow for configurable backups. I had a hard drive crash a few months back and the script saved a lot of hard work.

Thanks.

I am using it to provide different variations of voice announcements for various things.

For CID
Look who is calling now, Harleydude
How many times is Harleydude going to call

Things like that, so that the same things are not said all the time. I am also working on weather announcements scripts as well that will use this. I am currently testing it with JohnW and will prob post it on the forums in a couple of days.

Guys,

My POP3 component is nearing completion and am about ready to post it to the board. The plug-in id assigned was 10037 however the name has been changed to Email Manager. I was also assigned a config id of 121. I am now in need to 2 more config id's and an action id.

This component provides mechanisms for sending and receiving of email from multiple accounts and to have emails processed and commands to be executed by Girder.

Thanks

Oh dear Rob... no classical education? The reference was about the 300 Spartans who died and wanted to be remembered...

Actually I didn't realise I copied a link too... I must have grabbed it when I had to look up the exact quote so I could butcher it. :p

I need some more ID's...

XBMC Listener
XBMC Pinger
(plus 3 more as I envision some more bits to add on shortly)

ANNA Interface (action)
ANNA Interface (config)
ANNA Interface (plugin)

ANNA stands for "Access for Network Neighbourhood Automation". It's basically my home-brew automation hardware that links Girder. I've been using Girder events up to now but I'm getting confused trawling through the Log heh.

Cheers Rob. I've got to admit the project has sort of Frankensteined on me... All because I decided to see if I could access my Girder 3.3 setup via the web and then got NR2... and then played with Girder5 and got hooked.

Now I have customised hardware, touchscreens and a project that's going from strength to strength.

I swear that coding with Girder/NR2 is damned addictive.

Tell me about it - I've just ordered the parts for my new media server - will take up to 16 SATA drives (I'm starting with 5 for 5 terabytes). I'll be moving the files from my existing servers and will be using the drives from those on this server as a stop-gap until I need to add the remaining 11 1Tb drives (or even larger).

Once that's built I'll have even more motivation to finish LDJ2.

The new server will be running Windows Home Server and will also be backing up all my PCs overnight.

*NeoMorph Falls Out Of Bed In Shock*

5TB is a lot... but 16TB is gonna be mind blowing.Mind you if you start using HD Divx format it will quickly fill up.

I'm eventually going to be going a different way. Namely using small low power NAS devices that only need to be on when I need them with only a single hard drive in each one. That will reduce the power consumption that a large server will need to run (plus will allow them to run silently). Just imagine the power requirement and noise output that your 16 hard drives will need/cause. Mind you my system couldn't handle the backups - I have my raid server for that function.

The reason I designed my system to use the power economy modular approach was when I checked my last electricity bill. I live on my own in a one bedroom flat and my last bill was nearly three times the amount of my sisters who lives in a three bedroom house... OK so I'm a gadget freak heh.

What's the wattage of your PSU btw? It's going to have to be beefy to handle all those hard drives. Oh and you will probably be able to use your new server to heat your house all winter :p

Rob H
November 16th, 2007, 03:19 PM
I'm using the new WD 'Green' power drives which use about 8.5 W max I believe. The PSU is 600W. This machine will replace a pair of RAID servers that have a 750W and a pair of 650W supplies respectively and something like 24 drives so it should save a bit of money and energy. I currently have something like 7TB of data between the two of them.

This should be the only machine that's powered on all the time - I hope to be running Girder on it too, although I'm not yet sure whether Girder will run on WHS.

NeoMorph
November 16th, 2007, 03:42 PM
My Girder/emule PC will be running on a 60W psu which is astonishing. The lowest value PSU I have currently is a 360W Enermax so it should save me quite a bit in terms of electricity usage.

I used to use all Samsung Spinpoint hard drives as they were the bees knees where quietness were concerned. When a bunch of them started to go byebye (after being on 24/7 for the last 5 years) I replaced them with WD Raid Edition ones (designed for 24/7 use) and have been pleasantly surprised with how cool and quiet they are. I currently have 3 300gb drives in that server and it's not bad but I think that having a single hard drive in a mini-itx setup is going to be better (for me at least).

Personally I'd just like to have computers that don't sound like Hoover Dam Power Station all the time. This Acer laptop I'm using (Athlon 3400+ with Geforce go5700) should be issued with ear defenders it's so noisy (fan on ALL the time because Acer screwed up the heat dissipation). If I ever get another laptop I'll make sure that I test it beforehand to make sure it's as quiet as possible. Sod uber-mega-ninja machines... they are just too darned noisy. The mini-ITX fanless machines I'm going to go for will only generate noise from the hard drive so that's going to be me searching for the quietest hard drive available. Performance isn't going to be too much of an issue as all it will be doing is serving audio and video.

Rob H
November 16th, 2007, 05:49 PM
