I have made 2 myself, and tried the Hollywood+ and the IRman. The IRman sems to be the best for me. If you make one yourself, be sure the chip is a PIC programmable. The simpler circuts are not as useful. There is an IRman on Ebay today for $20.00 US.

Hello. (first post! yay)

Ive bought a simple IR receiver (homemade thing). Everything works pretty ok, girder is amazing. But, i think the receiver is a bit unresponsive, nomatter what remote i use. I have had a Hauppauge WinTV with remote and that one was alot better in this area, and i know some TVs (i.e my thomson) has some very good receivers.

So my question is, since you guys seem to know alot about these things, wich receiver is the best one, is there any FM receivers/remotes availible that works with girder? And is there anything i can do about my current receiver, to make it work better?

I don`t use winlirc, i use girder with igor`s plugin (very nice plugin btw!).

Thanks in advance
