Hello everyone.

I have a strange problem when running Media Bridge: It starts up, shows its splash screen, gets my player (WinAmp) running and displays its small headphone icon to show that it is active.

Other than that, it does nothing. When I try to check the settings, the icon disappears on contact with the mouse. As well in the task manager, it does not show.

I have installed NR & MB from the file "NetRemote-Pro-Suite-11-Aug-2005.exe". My PC ist running Win 2000 SP4, .net framework is installed. The same setup used to work fine on my laptop using Win XP Pro, but I would hope that there is another solution to the problem than upgrading my system. Win 2000 has some advantages for me on that particular machine.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks in advance,

Elmar

The icon disappearing when you move the mouse over it would indicate that Mediabridge has crashed. Try downloading DebugView from www.sysinternals.com and running that before you start Mediabridge. Hopefully, that will provide enough useful debugging information to track down this problem.

Thanks for checking into this.

I have attached the logfile that was produced by DebugView.
Hopefully you can see something from it.

Regards,

Elmar

I have just noticed that there is a bit of text in German in that logfile: "Datenbank ist bereits vorhanden.". That translates to: "Database already exists."

I'll probably have to leave the rest of this to Ben, but that should help him work out what's going wrong.

I have just noticed that you are running a very old version of Mediabridge - current version is 2.2.0.68 and you are running 2.1.0.35.

Try downloading the NetRemote 2.0 beta install and just installing the latest version of Mediabridge.

Hi Rob.

Thanks very much! Just updating Media-Bridge almost did the trick.
After that the program stayed alive long enough to tell me that I needed to upgrade my MDAC and then everything went fine.

I just did not realize that my MB was outdated: My saved version has the same number (1.1.0.44) as the one currently offered for downloading, so I thought all ingredients to be the same.

Anyway. My problem is solved and I thank you again.

Best regards,

Elmar
