DM Device Memory

It seems that the DM remembers my devices.

1. Why does it do that?
2. How do I prevent it?
3. Do I really want to prevent it?

I was actually wondering tthat it would be good to be able to delete some, so they can be relearnt. I have some that I have removed from my system, but I cannot remove from the DM
