View Full Version : Any way to react to incoming x-10 signals via cm11A yet?

I stopped looking at this quite a long time ago. Instead, I use the SmartLinc (http://www.smarthome.com/1132.html) to send and receive X-10 data inside Girder using the Generic Serial Plugin. Others use HomeSeer and ActiveHome to control the X-10 portions and interface to Gider with batch files.

Check out this (http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=16) thread. This post by Caffiend talks about it in some detail.
Basically, HomeSeer comes with an application called X10Com32.exe. He describes a batch file (X10Exec.bat) which changes a command of "X10Exec 2 3 1" to "X10Com32 B3 On".
This was done before the Girder Variable Manipulation Script (GVMS (http://www.girder.nl/help/registers.php)*) was available in Girder. This should be easier to do now that you can use strings, ints and do comparisons inside Girder.
*the GVMS link may be down due to server problems

I'm sorry, I misunderstood.
From the HomeSeer feature page (http://www.homeseer.com/homeseer.htm#features) it looks like HomeSeer can launch an applicaiton when it receives a trigger of some sort (like a notification from the light switch). You could have it launch Girder with the -eventstring<event string> parameter and cause the <event string> to be triggered.
The first post by vynce in this thread (http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1577&start=3) is a very good explaination of this process.
EDIT: Fixed mis-information and added reference to other thread.

I asked a similar question a while back and understood that this was coming. I don't know if someone was going to write a plugin or how this was to be done.
Basically, I want to learn an x-10 event as the trigger for a command. Then, have girder monitor com 1 for x-10 traffic and when a match is found, do something.
Is this possible already or will something need to be written? If it is possible, how? Thanks to all!!!

I have read that others have used HomeSeer. I have HomeSeer but don't know how the batch file process works. Can anyone give a high level overview of how this works? Thanks!!!!

Thanks Mark - I followed these instructions sometime back and they worked fine for issuing x-10 commands. However, I thought I read that someone was using HomeSeer to monitor x-10 traffic and then issue events to Girder via batch file.
Basically, I just want to turn my wall switch on and have that trigger my "Theater open" commands. Any ideas?

Thanks Mark! That's perfect! I tried it and it works great.
