Welcome to Girder!

I only have one useful tip. Use the search facility at the top of this page with mouseremote as the search term. :)

Seriously, this will bring up 5 or 6 threads specifically about the mouseremote.

Good luck.

Most of what you are asking is explained here (http://www.girder.nl/help/index.php). Look at the sections on getting started and states.

If your remote is currently acting like a mouse on the Windows desktop, then some piece of software (either a driver or prgram) is making it do this. If it is not Girder doing this, then you need to remove the software that is doing this. Only one piece of software can be in charge of the remote control at a time. If it is not Girder, it is something else.

I hope this makes sense. :)

if your X10-receiver is connected to the serial port, you can try mark's serial plugin. click on the green buttons on the same line on the download page and get the x10 config file. it works for my x10 dvd-anywhere (bought in Germany, so it might be called different)

shure, what are you looking for? I can controll ShowShifter, Mediajukebox, my mouse, ... that's why I started to use Girder. There's a thread about these things in General or have a look at the exported groups section.

did you enable the serial plugin in girder's config dialog? after you've done that try to hit the learn button.

ok... i've started on the little tutorial. in the notepad example, if i hit f5, then notepad starts, but the button i assign it to just makes the mouse cursor move on screen. is this because the serial inteface is detected as a serial mouse? if i disable the "mouse" in device manager then none of it works :(

any ideas?

Has anyone got any useful tips on how to setup the mouseremote for use with girder?

ok, i've done that. has anyone got some useful functions to map to the buttons on the remote then? :)

at the moment i simply want it to be able to receive commands i set to the buttons i guess, e.g. if i press the pg up button, it puts the page up, etc...

i think i'm being really stupid, but how do i set girder to do this?

can program specific modes also be created, eg. if i hit the button i set for windvd for example, all the key configurations get changed to those for use in windvd?

on another note, can anyone recommend a nice magnifier type program, e.g. when i hit the corresponding button, the mouse pointer's surrounding area becomes magnified...?

i'm running on win2k pro... do i have to disable it being detected as a serial mouse in order to be able to use the remote buttons? or is it one or the other?

yeah with the x10 ini. if i disable the serial mouse in device manager, i get no recognition from the receiver. if i enable it, it recognises the button, but all it does is make the mouse cursor move diagonally down on the screen. :(
