Hey Guys

Firstly - thanks for letting me join the beta test group - very exciting. And look forward to the new version being in production mode.

I have been having general stability issues with G5.

It runs for a while and then just stops responding. I am running it on an old IBM T23 laptop (P3 1.2GHZ 512MB Ram).

Setup is as follows
- XP Pro SP2
- AVG FREE
- Girder 5

Plugins enabled
- GlobalCache
- Audio Mixer
- Communication Server
- CopyData
- Device Notify Driver
- Generic Transport Plugin
- Keyboard
- Monitor APM Extensions
- Mouse Control
- Scheduler
- SendMessage
- TaskCreate
- Taskswitch
- Treescript
- WebServer
- Windows Conditional
- X10-CM1X
- ZIP Extensions

The Plan is to use this as the central server for X10, GlobalCache and Internet Download (XMLTV ect).

The system will run smoothly for a while - and then when I come back and look at it - G5 has just hung. The rest of the laptop works fine - but G5 stops.

I figured it would be the X10 device - so disabled that as a test. Alas G5 will still hang after a being left alone for a while.

Any chance you could disable the transport plugin and see if it still crashes

Well I diabled the Audio Mixer and Webserver - and it hasn't crashed since.

The Transport is still enabled - I'm just not making use of it.

I'm experiencing the same symptomes, and with the latest built (507) it's worse. Girder hangs after a few minutes.
With previous build it would take a few hrs.

In the previous builds what happend was that the Device Manager(web) started to loose the connection the girder, and fail to update, and then it would retry forever. But by then the webserver was dead.
And I've also notised that girder conusmes a lot of memory, 200-300MB after a few hrs. And I've experimented with it a little, only started girder and not using it, the Russound plugin is active and so is weather pulling, and afer a while girder is just not responding and I have to kill the process. -And like I said with the 507 build it's just a matter of mins. before that happens.

Regards,
Morten

did you try to disable the audiomixer?

In 507 I included a fix to this plugin to not crash Girder on Vista. However that fix seems to have broken XP. So I backed out of that fix back to the XP version. Since this plugin is useless on Vista anyway that is okay. The short of it. Do not use this plugin on Vista.

Just for your information:

Had the same problems with Girder5 crashing on exit.
Disabled Audiomixer and Webserver.
No crash anymore.

Ron,

Just wanted to let you know this.
"Downgraded" the audiomixer (running on XP) to the version you posted here, and now Grider build 507 has been running for 4 hrs. with another pc connected to its web devicemanager and it's only recoonecd once.
On earier builds the device manager would die afet a while.
-And I had problems getting NetRemote to connect to it.
All seem better now :-)

I'll let you know if I find anything else :-)

And one question, when can we expect to see support for the Russound ST radio in the device manager? :-)

Regards,
Morten

Ron,
My system seems better since I've disabled the audio mixer also.

Just to follow up and confirm, been running 507 for a few days now and the DM and NetRemote with the Flatpanel ccf is working good. no hangs or timeout like I've experienced with previous builds.

Good work! Thanks!
