If you are going to buy some IR hardware consider buying a dedicated IR device like the IRA or the UIR. Or making it your self. Support for the bt8x8 based remotes is a little thin.

Maybe getting the cheaper TV card will make it possible to get both.

And no the TV cards receiver will only work with the remote that came with it.

Im going to buy and avermedia card to be able to use the infrared adapter with Girder software. But i have some questions that i hope someone can help me. The questions are:

- The infrared receiver is capable to receive commands from any remote control or only from the avermedia remote?
- Is working fine under Windows XP?
- are there any problems that i must know?
