Running NR on the Girder machine, none of my Insteon Devices show up.

Running NR on my laptop remotely, about 1/2 of my Insteon Devices show up.

if you add a Device Manager->Lighting->Lighting action, do you see all your lights in that?

I see 15 out of maybe 40.

to be clear. Even inside Girder you don't see all lights? Are those all dimmable lights? do you see all lights inside the Insteon Device Manager? If so do they all have a model number inside the Insteon Device Manager?

I am looking inside Girder.

The lights are a mixture of dimmable and non-dimmable.

they all show up in the Insteon Device Manager.

when you say model # I assume you mean the xx.xx.xx id. yes, they all have that.

not the xx.xx.xx, that's the id.

The Model number is in the Insteon Device Manager, on the Device Manager tab. Selecting all the devices you should see their model # or description at the top of the dialog. Make sure they all have their model #. Insteon will not export the device to the Device Manager if it cannot retrieve the model number.

They all show one of the following:

ICON Dimmer Switch
ICON Relay Switch
ToggleLinc Relay
ToggleLinc Dimmer
PowerLinc Controller

None have any numbers in that field

I've moved this to it's own thread and pinged Mike to see if he has any ideas.

On further investigation, I have noted that the only devices missing are the ICON Relay Switches. The one ToggleLinc Relay I have shows up. All of the others appear to be there.

N ot sure why the Icon Relays aren't making it, but maybe that helps.

EDIT: The devices that don't show up have a type of Appliance/Switch in the Device Manager. when I use the functionality to change their type to Light/Switch, they now appear in NR.

Ok, so its working now?

Well yes, but the problem exists that the Icon Relays are somehow defined as Appliance/Switch. I also use some plug in relays that were defined as I think Switch. None of these show up on NR. I guess the logic is somewhere in the way the Device Manager defines the type. It's easily worked around if you know how, but who would? and if I indeed wanted my appliances to show up on NR under the heading of Lights/Appliances I don't think they would unless designated as Light/Switch.

The DM assumes that relay devices are most likely controlling an appliance. Maybe it shouldn't. In terms of the layout of the flatstyle ccf, I would like to see separate lighting and appliance sections but some would not. The DM is designed to be flexible so we can change this behavior very easily.

The Relays I have are all paddle switches. They mostly control Bathroom fans and flourescent lights. I guess as long as the option remains to change what they do, it's fine. Maybe an assumption shouldn't be made, but instead the field left blank for the user to make a choice.

I agree on separating lights and appliances, but then I'm not contriolling any appliances, so it doesn't really matter.

The one thing I would like to see is the location displayed at the top of the screen on NR when you choose an individual location. It's very confusing as to how to label each device. Do you include the location in the description so that it shows up on the 'All Locations' tab? Or do you leave it off so that when you are in a particular location tab every switch isn't labeled starting with the word 'Outside' for instance. I know this belongs somewhere else, but it just came to me. In the upper right hand corner of the NR screen is a description. It has two parts. What are these supposed to be?

Howard, if you edit the Display Name on the DM Config page - that will change what NR displays for each device.

Yes, but since they are displayed in two different contexts, It is hard to decide whether to include the Location in the description or not.
