I just tried installing NR 2.0.0.87 on a new Vista laptop and I'm getting an bunch of error boxes popup that say

cannot write registry value RegName

Acess is denied

I'm running it as Administrator.

Then, another box comes up saying:

Error registering type lib

It seems to run ok after that though. Then when I exit, I get a box saying that NetRemote has stopped working with these details:

Does the installer -run- as an administrator?

Yes. I only have one account on that machine, and it's an administrator.

But it should still prompt you as to whether you want to run things as administrator. It sounds like it's not running that way. Right click on the installer and choose "Run as administrator".

You're right, I didn't do the run as administrator thing. I re-installed, running as administrator, and I still had the problems when just double clicking the NR icon. Then I ran NR as administrator and it worked. Now, I don't need to run as administrator. It seems like you have to run as administrator to put the registration key in.

Thanks.

Interesting. I'm assuming it doesn't save changed if you change the registry, though, right?

I assume that the options are stored in the registry. I changed a few( disable auto-discovery and start full screen) and they saved properly now and took effect on restart. I'm not sure why I have access now and before I didn't

Ah. But I bet you can't register without being an admin. That makes sense.
